Congratulations to Patrick Larkin for running 7:58 up the Grinder on Monday and earning a pair of Brooks spikes. He is the 4th athlete this season and the 24th overall to break the 8 minute barrier.
This Saturday, the Swim Team is hosting their Fish Out Of Water 5k and Kids Race at AFHS. The races start at 8:00 AM, so come early to sign up and run, and help out the swim team.

Utah State Championships
We were at Sugarhouse Park today for the State Championships.
It was 60 ish with an intermittent breeze and varying sunshine to cloudy.
The girls ran at 2:00 PM , and then ran away with their 2nd straight State Championship.
We had 4 All-Staters, and our top 6 in the top 13.
The boys raced at 3:35 PM and took 3rd place. Casey Clinger was our 6th individual state champion in the last 7 years. Patrick Parker also earned All-State honors.

Utah State Cross-Country Championships
The Varsity Boys and Girls Teams will participate in the Utah State XC Championships next Wednesday, October 21st at Sugarhouse Park (1300 East exit off I-80) in Salt Lake City.
The bus leaves AFHS at Noon. All athletes (high school and junior high) will be excused from class at 11:30 AM.
The Girls Varsity Race is at 2:00 PM. The Boys Varsity Race is at 3:30 PM. Our team will set up camp Southeast of the pond at our traditional spot.
All JV athletes should bring $15 because we will eat at Chuck-a-rama in SLC (400 S. 700 E.) for dinner before heading back to AFHS. Varsity athletes will have their meal paid.

The Grinder

Girl JV Results: The Girls JV had a perfect score of 15 points to win the Region JV race.
Boys JV Results: The Cavemen placed 5 in the top 8 to win with 25 points.
Girls Varsity Race: The Girls Varsity almost got the perfect score, going 1,2,3,4,7 for 17 points.
Boys Varsity Race: The Boys narrowly took second by 6 points behind Lone Peak.
We would all the Parents, Community Members, and Alumni who showed up tp cheer on the Cavemen. State will be held Wednesday, October 23rd at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City. The girls team will run at 2:00 PM, while the boys will run at 3:30 PM.

Park City Results
The boys JV had a great Saturday morning at the Park City Invite.
The rainy weather let up early in the morning, so it was perfect, cool fall weather for racing on the hilly 3 mile course.
In the boys JV race, we placed 4 in the top 10 for awards and 9 in the top 17.

Park City Invite
The JV Boys will be racing tomorrow morning at the Park City Invitational. The bus will leave AFHS at 8:00 AM. Athletes missing the bus will not be allowed to race. Parents may take their athlete home after Coach Mostert has been notified, and after the team cooldown.
The best way to get to the Quinn's Junction soccer complex is to take the highway up American Fork Canyon, through Heber City, and past the Jordanelle Reservoir. The soccer field is off the west side of the highway before you get to Park City and I-80.
