This Weekend's Meets

Attention: Time changes this Friday. Because of so many teams coming to the meet, a Frosh/Soph race has been added.

The boys team will be racing Friday in Herriman. The race is not at the Herriman High School, but on a course in the foothills. The address is at the LDS Church at 14868  South Juniper Crest.
Directions:  Take Bangerter HWY west and turn left on 13400 South.  Go west to about 4700 West and turn left on the new Mountain View Corridor.  Follow the Corridor south to the 3rd exit (Rosecrest). Exit right and go about ¼ mile to the stop sign and turn left on Juniper Crest.  Go south to the end of the road or LDS church at 14868 S. Juniper Crest.
The bus will leave AFHS at 3:00 PM. Athletes must ride the bus up in order to compete. Parents may take their athlete home after their cooldown, and if they inform the coach.

The girls team will be racing Saturday at the BYU Autumn Classic. The meet will be held at the BYU Track Stadium which is South of the LES.
The bus will leave AFHS at 7:30 AM. Athletes must ride the bus up in order to compete. Parents may take their athlete home after their cooldown, and if they inform the coach. The boys will also be going to BYU on the bus to do a Saturday run on the Provo River Trail.

XCNATION Rankings

NHSCA OVERALL BOYS NATIONAL TEAM POWER RANKINGSThere is a new US#1! The American Fork HS, American Fork, Utah Cavemen dominated the Utah Pre-Region IV with the fastest team time ever run in the State of Utah. The total team time 76:17.8 run at 4,500 feet elevation over 3-miles with a 49-second spread was astonishing. Team depth was even more impressive as the Cavemen took 1st and 2nd with the 3-5 spread 6-seconds and 3-7 spread 13.7 seconds! Connor McMillan 14:47.2; Zac Jacklin 14:53.6; Tyler Bell 15:29.9; Nathan Tracy 15:30.5; Caleb Thompson 15:36.6; Casey Clinger 15:42.5; Daniel Bentley 15:44.2. The week previous they were within 2-seconds of the American Fork Grass Relays team record set by last season US#2 Cavemen team.
The National High School Coaches Association Power Rankings are a team strength computer rating that take into account previous season returners, track performances, cross country performance metrics and current season results. They are used to recognize and award national championship recognition by the NHSCA for Division I and Division II high school cross country programs.

5:00 PM - Bus leaves AFHS. All athletes must ride on the bus in order to compete. Parents may take their athlete home after their race and team cooldown, just make sure to tell their coach so no one gets left. Athletes should plan ahead and get their homework done on Tuesday night, or after school on Wednesday.

American Fork Grass Relays Results

Results
     We would like to thank everybody who helped out at the meet yesterday; especially the team parents who helped at registration, in the concession stand, in the finish chute, in the press box, and with the results boards. We had 35 teams and 1324 runners show up.

The Girls Varsity relay team placed 5th overall in a time of 64:11, with Maddie Bench earning a plaque for the 14th fastest leg in 12:33.

Five Cavemen won awards in the Girls Frosh/Soph J.V. race. Hannah McKendrick won (12:48), just edging out here teammate Sophie Stewart (12:48). Katie Bradshaw placed 3rd (12:59), Sammy Hollingsworth 6th (13:12), and Payton Pryor in 8th (13:18).

The Boys Varsity Relay team just missed setting a new Grass Relays record by only 2 seconds, running a time of 51:48. Connor McMillan ran the 2nd fastest time ever (9:52), only 4 seconds off of the record. He was the fastest leg by 11 seconds. Zac Jacklin also won a plaque with a 4th place leg in 10:06.

In the Boys Jr/Sr J.V. race, the Cavemen swept the first 5 places and 7 of the  10 medals. Daniel Bentley was the individual champion in 10:34. He was followed by Spencer Herzog (10:35), Jace Jensen (10:41), Jacob Chase (10:52), and Luke Gunther (10:52).  Connor Hoopes placed 7th  in10:57 and Ashton Jensen 8th in 10:58.

Four Cavemen took home top ten awards in the Boys Frosh/Soph J.V. race. Casey Clinger was the individual champion in 10:40, followed by runner-up McKay Johns in 10:45. Joe Simmons placed 6th in 10:58 and Hagen Harmer 7th in 11:02. In total, the Cavemen had an astounding 16 boys under 11:00!
