State Championships Results

 The Cavemen travelled yesterday to the Rose Park Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City for the 2021 Utah State Cross Country Championships. The 5k course was flat and fast grass with calm, partly cloudy skies and mid 50's temperature. Full Results



The Girls Team won their 6th State Championship since 2009 with a score of 70 points. Lone Peak was 2nd with 89 points out of 18 teams and 138 total competitors. We had 3 All-State Runners in Avalon Mecham (2nd in 17:30), Abigail Barlow (5th in 17:56), and Avery Moore (10th in 18:17).

The Boys Team placed 2nd  with a score of 68 points to Farmington's 49 points out of 18 teams and 138 total competitors. Nathan Jaster repeated as the individual state champion; AF's 10th in the past 13 years, with a course record of 14:55.5. Jayden Fitzgarrald was also All-State with a 3rd place finish in 15:08.

Utah State Championships Information

 The 2021 UHSAA State Cross Country Championships will be held Wednesday, October 27 at the Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City. The address of the RAC is 2280 Rose Park Ln, Salt Lake City, UT 84116. 


 Parking Spectators will be charged for parking to enter the venue. Fans will not be able to enter the venue without parking the facility. Vehicles with two-or-less individuals inside the car will be charged $10; vehicles with three or-more individuals will be charged $20. RV’s and other oversize vehicles will be charged at $40, due to the use of multiple parking spots. Vehicles will be issued wristbands at the entrance gates for the corresponding numbers of individuals inside the vehicle. Parking passes can be purchased on the UHSAA GoFan online ticket portal at https://gofan.co/app/school/UHSAA or purchased at the gate. A convenience credit card fee will be charged as part of the purchase. There will be no cash option for purchase. It is advised for everyone to prepurchase parking passes to allow for faster parking and entrance into the facility. Individuals who hold UHSAA Annual Passes will show the pass at the parking lot entry gate to receive wristbands for them and another individual. Patrons and teams are encouraged to leave after their respective awards ceremonies to allow more parking for patrons and team busses. There will be a parking attendant at the exit gate to ensure people do not enter the facility through an alternate route. Schools who are planning on bringing student support busses will drop off students in the team parking entry and will be charged $5 per student who enters through the gate. UHSAA personnel will provide entry wristbands for these individuals.

The bus will leave AFHS at 1:50 PM. All athletes must ride on the bus in order to compete. Any athlete that misses the bus will not be allowed to race. Parents may take their athlete home after team cooldowns are completed, and if a coach has been notified.

The Grinder

 The Boys Team ran the Grinder today for the first time in almost 2 months. Ryker Miller became the second Freshman this year to earn his "I Conquered The Grinder" t-shirt with a time of 8:54.

Utah 6A Divisional Results

 The Cavemen raced this morning at the Utah 6A Divisional Championships, and both Girls and Boys teams qualified for the State Finals by winning their respective races. Complete Results

Utah 6A Divisional Meet Information

 The Cavemen will race this coming Tuesday in the Utah 6A Divisional Meet at the Lakeside Sports Park in Orem (400 S. 1850 W.). 

The bus will leave AFHS at 7:30 AM. All athletes must ride on the bus in order to compete. Any athlete that misses the bus will not be allowed to race. Parents may take their athlete home after team cooldowns are completed, and if a coach has been notified.
